Hold that Stitch! (Quack!)

Long before I had the brilliant idea for my crochet keepers, I found a cheesy plastic necklace with one of my favorite things on it - rubber duckies. I'm not sure I had any real plan for the necklace to start out with, but I bought it anyway because... because it was duckies, and I'm a sucker for duckies. And I knew I'd eventually find some use for it. And I did. I probably saw someone use the lobster-claw clasps as stitch markers at some point, and I remembered the duck necklace, and I was in need of some stitch markers (because I keep misplacing the completely servicable (boring), but easy to lose, ones I bought from the store). And it clicked. Duckie stitch markers!

I just used a needle and some heavy-duty thread to push through the duck (I used the same hole the necklace did for the top, but I had to go up through a different part on the bottom to secure the duck) and used a few of the white beads, tied it off, and I was done! I've used them a few times (most notably to marke where I put the branches on my Money Tree). They are fairly large and bulky, which is good in that I don't lose them, but they can be a bit much to work around on smaller projects. But now that I have the idea down, I'm going to make some smaller ones and some knitting ones (with solid rings) to use up a lot of the misc. beads I have laying around.
