I'm not entirely sure where I got this recipe - maybe a magazine, or off of some food carton, I'm not sure. It looked like a neat, simple idea. There are plenty of (unhealthy) versions of pizza rolls available in the frozen food aisle, and if a giant machine can make them (package them, and freeze them), then why can't I? Well, as it turns out, there are a lot of things machines can do that I can't (which might explain why I drive a car to work every day and constantly play on a computer, now that I think of it...). This includes, apparently, making pizza rolls.

The trouble started, once again, with the tile countertops. Even with the ready-made dough, working on an uneven surface is iffy. So I ended up trying to do it on my big wooden cutting board, which was a might bit sticky. The dough stuck and stretched and generally made a mess. I also probably tried to put in too much filling, because they didn't roll up neatly or cut well at all. And when they came out of the oven... let's just say it's good that there was other food in the house.

Even with the very poor quality cell phone picture (in hindsight, it's probably a blessing that you can't see it in all its grisly glory!) you can tell this is a disaster. This recipe went straight in to the round file! Okay, it didn't, I stuck it in the back of the recipe card file because one day I'm going to make a scrapbook of cooking disasters and it's going to be featured. One of these days...
