You shouldn't have to ask what flavor of cake it is...

I made this cake for a co-worker of my husband (a chemist), and besides proving to me that I had not future in cake decorating, it also reinforced my hatred of my tile countertops. It's bad enough trying to roll out cookie dough or pie crust on a tile countertop, but it's impossible to roll out enough fondant to cover a cake that size on such an uneven surface. Even if the tile had be laid perfectly, you still have the issue of the groutlines... Because, though it may not appear to be very large in the picture (you might imagine it's a typical 9x13 cake), it was a huge cake. The molecules are Nilla Wafers coated in colored frosting, and the bonds are pretzel sticks. Still, I think for all my handicaps (inability to decorate, tile counters, etc) it turned out okay for a casual party, and I still think the concept was sound.
