Books are objects very near and dear to my heart. I started reading at a very young age (I could read when I was 4) and have never stopped. I'm a fairly fast reader, and love almost all genres. My favorite at the moments is probably sci-fi/fantasy, but mysteries are a close second. Up until recently I would say biographies were something I would never read, but I've read two in the last month and enjoyed both. I like horror, romance (though it's easy to get burned out on that, fast), young adult (even some classified as juvenile at the library!), non-fiction (especially math and science), and I've even dabbled in westerns. The only type of book I generally do not enjoy is what I would call an 'Oprah' book - those rather drippy, dreary books filled with 'deep' meaning and personal angst. Right now The Lovely Bones tops my "I really wish I could have those hours of my life back" book list. (Seriously: 'she ordered coffee and toast and buttered it with her tears' - emo writing at its best! Yes, this is a slight paraphrase (I do keep meaning to look up the exact quote, I listened to it as an audiobook from the library, but I really don't want to ever pick up the book again, so if you have it and can give me a true exact quote, e-mail me!).
Below are my book links, pretty self-explanatory. My favorites, my opinions, and a link to our book list (probably not of interest to anyone else, but I want it here so the next time we go to the library's giant book sale, we can look at what we already own and avoid duplicate purchases!). The book list is via a wonderful program called Bookpedia, which is very sadly only available for Mac (but we do happen to have one - against my better judgment) but which works very well most of the time.
